Follow The Cannabis MoneyMarch 7, 2018
Don’t be fooled!
As a 40 year plus member of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) I was not much surprised to recently read a rather negative editorial about the dangers of cannabis in natural health products (NHPs). For decades, CMA editorials have come down hard on NHPs, claiming they harm the public, have little to no scientific support and are fraudulent. The claim that is often being made is that NHPs must have the same strict scientific scrutiny as prescription drugs. What they neglect to say is that NHPs are just plant extracts. Do we really need drug level toxicology studies before we can buy and eat broccoli or garlic? Do we really have to prove that chicken soup extract is good for your cold and flu symptoms? When we talk about cannabis, it’s a plant, not some synthetic chemical produced in a Big Pharma lab. Don’t be fooled by this Big Pharma thought control.
To say the least, the Canadian Medical Association in its journal has been very critical of marijuana legalization in this country.
NHP’s UNDER ATTACK!
In its latest editorial, once again, the CMA is using cannabis as a way of attacking all the natural health products (NHPs). This is despite the thousands of published scientific articles proving the benefits of cannabis in a wide range of diseases including chronic cancer pain, seizure disorders, autism, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression and the list goes on.
This editorial neglected to mention that scientifically approved prescription drugs kill well over 40,000 people each year. And, that’s just the opiates. When you factor in all the other drugs (psychiatric, analgesics, chemotherapy, etc.), legally prescribed prescription drugs, used as directed, are the third leading cause of death behind cancer and heart disease. NHPs kill no one. Prescription drugs have been proven to kill. Cannabis alone very rarely, if ever, causes death on its own. It’s 1000 times safer than opiates and can reduce the need for opiates according to several studies. This happens to be a very sore point with Big Pharma. Don’t believe the CMA propaganda. It’s totally fake news designed to discourage access to NHPs.
The results of using cannabis for medicinal purposes speak for themselves and the scientific evidence supporting that has been in place for decades.
To say the least, the Canadian Medical Association in its journal has been very critical of marijuana legalization in this country. It keeps nattering about the “dangers of marijuana” and how there should be safeguards, etc. to protect the public. They create committees to try to prove their points. Don’t you be fooled about their attempts to curtail cannabis use. It’s really all about the money, folks. The CMA journal, if you care to flip through its pages, is laced with ads for multiple drugs. Big Pharma is monetarily supporting the journal with these ads. Big Pharma stands to lose billions to cannabis use. In fact, a recent publication claims that it stands to lose $4 billion a year. Follow the money.
Still in the medical cannabis stoneage?
Many years ago, Big Pharma, in a failed attempt to compete with cannabis, developed several drugs (synthetic cannabis) that mimicked the compounds found in cannabis. Unfortunately, side effects and a lack of clinical benefits caused people to shift to the real thing and not the phony copies of cannabis ingredients. If you use cannabis, use the real thing. More and more doctors are prescribing “medical marijuana” (as if that’s any different) and appear to have ignored the CMA dogmas about cannabis. The results of using cannabis for medicinal purposes speak for themselves and the scientific evidence supporting that has been in place for decades. Just remember that you are using a plant that has been safely used for hundreds of years, long before the existence of the CMA and their drug bosses.
